The Weaver

The sadu weaver keeps no drawing and needs none. The pattern lives in her, learned at her mother's knee, and it leaves her hands a thread at a time: black, crimson, and the white of bone. The ground loom holds the tension; she holds the rest. The work stays close to her hands because that is where the library is kept. Nothing here is written, and nothing is forgotten.
